Ardeshir Contractor founded Kiran Energy in 2010 and which is India’s leading solar energy utility. Kiran Energy suppliespower to the Government and to top industrial firms from large power plant sites in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. First Solar Inc., is an investor in Kiran Energy’s projects and the US Exim Bank is a leading lender.
He chairs the Ficci Solar Task Force for Indian industry, has led the US-India Clean Energy Financing discussions in Delhi and Washington DC, and is on the Advisory Committee for the ongoing UNEP Financial Institutions Global Inquiry on Sustainable Financing. He has been invited to speak at the Bloomberg New Energy Finance Summit, NY, the Clean Energy Ministerial meeting of global energy ministers, and to the Yale CEO Leadership Summit at NYSE. Ardeshir serves as independent director on several Boards including Nature/Macmillan and the Zoroastrian Investment Corporation.
He earned a bachelor’s from IIT Bombay in 1984 and a master’s from Ohio State University in 1986. He started his career with the Tata Group and with Lazard in India and in the UK, movingin 1996to an India and regional leadership position as Managing Director with KPMG
