Prof Kavi Arya

Dr. Kavi Arya is Associate Professor in the Computer Science & Engineering Dept. of the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay) where he teaches Embedded Systems He is also the convener of the Embedded & Real time Systems Lab (ERTS). He is Principal Investigator of the e-Yantra Project, funded by NMEICT, that is popularizing “Project Based Learning” using robotics in engineering colleges. e-Yantra is setting up 500 robotic labs in the next 3 years throughout the country. Dr Arya spent 2007 on sabbatical with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to the VC & MD’s office where he helped incorporate Sustainability in the business strategy of the company. He is empanelled by Technology Development Board (DST) as member of its High Level Expert Committee in IT/Telecom & Engg./Electronics and similarly on the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC’s) High Level Review Committee. He has executed Defence projects and represents IIT Bombay at the meetings with Army Technology Board and Defence IT Consultative Committee. Dr Arya did his B.Sc.(Hons.) in Computing Science from Imperial College of Science & Technology (UK) in 1983 and M.Sc./D.Phil. in Computation from the Programming Research Group, University of Oxford in 1984.
