Chairman of Akshara Foundation
Ashok Kamath is currently the Chairman of Akshara Foundation, which is a public-private partnership that aims to have ‘Every Child in School and Learning Well’. After completing his 5-year integrated M.Sc. in Math at IIT Bombay, Ashok worked for Analog Devices, a Boston-based semiconductor company. In 2006, he initiated within Akshara a unique databased platform called the Karnataka Learning Partnership (KLP). The KLP platform and its achievements have been recognized by the Information Integrity Coalition in the U.S., which gave Akshara its Gold Award in the Non-profit category in 2008, and also by the Omidyar Network in 2013. Ashok is also a co-founder and Trustee of Pratham Books which is a public charitable trust that believes in “A Book in Every Child’s Hand” and publishes high-quality books for children in multiple Indian languages. He is a Distinguished Alumnus Awardee of IIT Bombay (2013) and has served on the Board of Directors of the IITB Alumni Association.
