Chief Executive, Europe Northrop Grumman Corporation
Andrew Tyler joined Northrop Grumman as Chief Executive, Europe on 1 July 2013. In this role he has responsibility for NG’s 2,200 staff and $1.5Bn portfolio across the European region.
Prior to Northrop Grumman he was Chief Executive at Siemens’ Marine Current Turbines and before that, Chief Operating Officer at Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) in the Ministry of Defence (MoD).During his five year period at the MoD from 2006 to 2011, he was Director, Land and Maritime in the Defence Procurement Agency, directing a wide portfolio of projects including the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers. When the DE&S organisation was formed, he then became Director General Ships with responsibility for directing the procurement and support of all the Royal Navy’s surface assets. He became Chief Operating Officer of DE&S in 2008 with responsibility for the entire MOD portfolio of equipment procurement and support delivery.
Previously, Tyler held a number of senior executive roles at BMT, the independent maritime engineering, science and technology consulting and technical services company, culminating as Group Operations Director.
He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology; Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors; and a member of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors. He was appointed Commander of the Order of British Empire (CBE) in the 2012 New Year Honours List for services to the defence industry.
